Residents of Epping Forest district invited to share views on policing, fire and rescue service and community safety at public meeting.

All residents of Epping Forest District are invited to share views on policing, the fire and rescue service and community safety at a public meeting hosted by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.

The meeting which starts at 7pm on Monday 18th September at the Zinc Arts Centre, Great Stony, High Street, Chipping Ongar, CM5 0AD, will be hosted by Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex. The meeting is expected to last one hour.

The role of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in Essex (PFCC) is to be the voice of the people and to actively monitor and scrutinise the performance of Essex Police and Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

Mr Hirst will be joined at the meeting by senior representatives of local police, local fire and rescue services and Epping Forest District Council.

Issues that will be discussed at the meeting include: Residents have noticed incidents of anti-social behaviour in Ongar high street such as benches and play equipment being damaged. Following partnership work with police letters to parents and home visits were carried out and consequently the incidents of ASB had been reduced.

The investment of the safer streets initiative in Ninefields Waltham Abbey has resulted in extra cctv, diversionary activities and community safety initiatives which has all resulted in a reduction of ASB and Crime.

Shopkeepers in Debden Broadway have discovered a high level of Theft and ASB in the area. The local police met with the shopkeeper’s discussing a safety app to be put into place for the shop to report any incidents that occur alongside patrols for key times of the day and targeted areas.

All residents of Epping Forest district are invited to attend.
