Basildon shoppers reminded to pop along and see their PCC

Residents in Basildon can raise their crime and policing-related concerns with the Police and Crime Commissioner at his latest public roadshow.

Nick Alston, PCC for Essex, will be meeting members of the public at the Eastgate Centre on Friday July 17 from 11am to 3pm.

The PCC will be on hand to listen to residents and answer their questions as he hosts the second of his new roadshows.

The roadshows, which are in support of the PCC’s regular public meetings, aim to offer a less formal and more relaxed environment for people to discuss any concerns. They are also held in busy locations so people can pop along whilst they are already out and about.

Mr Alston said: “If you care about policing or want to raise any concerns or questions please pop along and see me. I am looking forward to visiting Basildon and I am extremely grateful to the staff at the Eastgate Shopping Centre for hosting this event.”

Ian Clark, manager of the Eastgate Shopping Centre, added: “The Eastgate Shopping Centre has a long, proud tradition of supporting our local police officers. We are delighted to host the Police and Crime Commissioner’s roadshow to provide him with the chance to meet our shoppers and we would encourage everyone visiting our shopping centre to make the most of this unique opportunity.”

Mr Alston will be outside Starbucks on the ground floor of the shopping centre which is in Town Square, Basildon. It is hoped he may also be joined by local Police Community Support Officers and Special Constables.
