ENGAGING
ESSEX

Have you got a question for the Chief Constable?

The Essex Police Challenge is your chance to have a voice in in the debate around the policing of our county.

Nick Alston has created the Essex Police Challenge as a key part of his role as Police and Crime Commissioner to hold the Chief Constable of Essex to account on behalf of the people of our county, and to provide opportunities for the public to directly raise any matters that may concern them.

Three Essex Police Challenge events have already been held, and the next event will take place in the Southend area on the evening of Wednesday July 2.

The main subjects for the next Essex Police Challenge event will be:

1) a countywide Essex Police performance update, with a focus on crime trends in Southend;

2) Essex Police has recently announced plans to introduce a new local policing model.  How might this work both across Essex and in Southend in particular?

3) seasonal crime patterns – seaside towns such as Southend-on-Sea and Clacton experience significantly higher demand for policing in the summer period.  What are the underlying factors?  How is Essex Police responding?  How can local communities help?

4) there will also be plenty of time for questions from the public and answers from the Chief Constable and the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Please come along and, time permitting, ask a question yourself, either on one of the main subject areas or about a policing or community safety matter of your choice.

Everyone in our county is welcome to attend the Essex Police Challenge event on Wednesday July 2, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at:

Balmoral Community Centre

Salisbury Avenue

Westcliff-on-Sea

Essex SS0 7AU

You can also submit questions for the Essex Police Challenge by writing to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner or using the email address: [email protected]

Nick Alston will aim to ask any many questions submitted as possible and reasonable in the allocated time.
