Successful community groups to receive share of £320k PFCC funding

Voluntary services and community groups will be benefiting from up to £20k grants thanks to the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex (PFCC).

The groups all applied to the PFCC Community Safety Development Fund (CSDF) which totalled £320k and the funding has now been approved, subject to due diligence checks.

Successful applicants needed to demonstrate how they will make a positive impact on at least one of the Police and Crime Plan or Fire and Rescue Plan priorities.

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “By empowering communities and supporting innovation through the Community Safety Development Fund we can tackle local problems at a grass roots level and help keep our county safe and our communities strong and resilient.”

Organisations and community groups who have made applications the latest round of funding include ones who support individuals affected by homelessness, organisations who deliver sports intervention and mentoring programmes to young people and and groups providing support for families suffering domestic abuse by offering therapeutic sessions to mothers and fathers to help break cycles of abuse.

This year over 77 bids were received in total and were assessed by a panel of independent local representatives, ensuring the projects reflect specific community priorities, working with other existing commissioned or grant-funded activity and as providing good value for money for the taxpayer.

In order to ensure the initiatives align with local priorities and existing activity, applicants were also required to engage with their local Community Safety Partnerships.
