Posted Tuesday 23rd July 2024 Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, has backed calls by Police Chiefs for a new approach to reducing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) has released a statement calling for a whole-system approach that brings together criminal justice partners, government bodies and industry, in a new partnership that seeks to reduce the scale and impact of VAWG. Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “Reducing violence against women and girls has been a focus of the PFCC Essex. “It was a priority included in the Police and Crime Plan 2021–2024 and is a draft priority for inclusion in the Police and Crime Plan 2024–2028, which following my re–election as PFCC Essex in May, is now being consulted on. “I urge all people who live and work in Essex to have their say on the draft priorities for the Police and Crime Plan 2024-2028 by completing the short four-minute survey which is now live.” The survey can be accessed here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/PPUP50/ The National Police Chiefs' Council statement can be read here: Call to action as VAWG epidemic deepens (npcc.police.uk)
