PFCC CELEBRATES DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS AT ANNUAL EVENT

Volunteers from the PFCC’s Restorative Justice and Mediation Service (ERMS), Animal Welfare Scheme and Independent Custody Visiting Scheme were celebrated at the Annual PFCC Volunteer Appreciation Event held on Saturday 6th July 2024.
Attending the event, Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner said: “This annual event gives us opportunity to formally thank our volunteers for their dedication and for giving their time in helping to make Essex safer.
“Hearing about the service our volunteers have given is both humbling and inspiring. On behalf of myself and the people of Essex, I want to say thank you to all.”
Currently the PFCC has three volunteering schemes with a total of 54 volunteers.
Our Restorative Justice and Mediation Service (ERMS) volunteers work with victims and perpetrators to find meaningful reparation and heal the harm caused by offending. Last November, ERMS received the prestigious Lord Ferrers Award in recognition of the support they deliver to those who have been involved in crime, conflict or antisocial behaviour.
Our Animal Welfare volunteers help to provide assurance that our police dogs are cared for in the best way possible.
Meanwhile our Independent Custody Visiting Volunteers work closely with the national Independent Custody Visiting Association and Essex Police custody staff to continuously improve the rights, dignity and welfare of those in police custody.
At the culmination of the packed event Saturday 6th July, Roger presented awards to Pauline Rae for 10-years of volunteer service and Bob Hewes for handling a complex case.
The Volunteer of the Year Award went to Helen McMahon who incredibly volunteers for all three PFCC schemes.
