Police and crime public meeting in Tiptree – February 28
A public meeting on police and crime matters will be taking place in Tiptree on the evening of Friday 28 February. The meeting will be hosted by Tiptree’s Member of Parliament and Essex’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner. Senior police officers will also be on hand to update the public on police activity in the village to combat crime and anti-social behaviour and to take questions. The meeting follows recent reports of crime, anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in the village. Tiptree’s Member of Parliament, who has worked with Essex Police to increase police numbers by over 300 with hundreds more to follow, said:
“Keeping our streets safe is a top priority for me and recent reports of crime in Tiptree have caused concern in the village. I am in contact with the police over these incidents and the public meeting will be an opportunity for them to give further information to local residents and respond to their questions and concerns. By working together with the community we can see what more can be done to tackle crime.”
“To keep our streets safe and take the fight to criminals I have worked with the police to get the resources they need to increase police numbers by over 300 in the last couple of years. Hundreds more will follow as part of my plans to boost police numbers across the country by 20,000. ”
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “Public meetings are a great way to hear from people directly about what they think about local issues. I would urge as many Tiptree residents as possible to come along and make the most of this opportunity to speak to the local MP, myself and the police.”
