PFCC highlights importance of road safety for horses and riders at awareness ride

Posted 17th September

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, was on hand to help motorists and horse riders stay safe on Essex roads at a Pass Wide and Slow Awareness Ride.

The Pass, Wide and Slow Awareness Ride took place in Thurrock district on Sunday 15th September, with riders of all ages taking part to highlight the importance of motorists to respect horses and their riders on the road, keeping a safe distance at all times.

Mr Hirst joined Cllr Qaisar Abbas of Thurrock Council in supporting the ride, along with local Police Community Support Officers. The ride followed a circular route from Fanns Farm, Purfleet.

Following the ride, Mr Hirst handed out rosettes to young horse riders who had taken part in the awareness event.
