PCC’s first public roadshow proves to be a success with shoppers
Shoppers at Intu Lakeside got to speak to their Police and Crime Commissioner as he held the first of his new public roadshows at the Thurrock centre.
Nick Alston, PCC for Essex, spoke to numerous members of the public about their crime and policing-related concerns whilst they shopped.
Mr Alston was supported by local Police Community Support Officers and volunteer Special Constables who also spoke with members of the public at the event on Thursday June 11.
The new roadshows aim to enhance the way in which the PCC regularly engages with communities in Essex by visiting busy locations at times when people are likely to be out and about.
The roadshows are in support of the PCC’s regular public meetings, which continue to be held in each of the county’s districts and boroughs.
Mr Alston said: “The roadshow at Intu Lakeside has been a great success. It provided a much more informal and relaxed environment to meet with residents. We have had many positive and valuable discussions with members of the public about crime and policing and I look forward to meeting more people at my next roadshow. Essex Police is here to serve the public and events like this ensure people have a voice with regard to the service they receive.”
