PCC heads to Basildon for his next public roadshow

Shoppers in Basildon can meet and speak with their Police and Crime Commissioner as he hosts the second of his new roadshows.

Nick Alston, Police & Crime Commissioner for Essex, will be at the Eastgate Centre in Town Square, Basildon on Friday July 17 from 11am to 3pm.

The roadshow will give local residents the opportunity to raise any crime or policing related concerns with the PCC whilst they are out and about. The roadshow is the second event of its kind to be hosted by the PCC and follows on from the first one held at Intu Lakeside  Shopping Centre in Thurrock last month.

The roadshows aim to enhance the way the PCC engages with communities in Essex by visiting busy locations at times when people will be out and about. The events are in support of Mr Alston’s public meetings but offer a less formal environment for residents to raise concerns.

Mr Alston said: “The roadshows provide a much more relaxed way for people to stop and talk to me when they are already out and about as I realise not everyone is able to attend my regular public meetings. The first roadshow at Lakeside was a great success and I have no doubt that Basildon will be the same and I am looking forward to meeting local residents and hearing their concerns and answering any of their questions.”

Mr Alston will be outside Starbucks on the ground floor of the shopping centre. It is hoped he may also be joined by local Police Community Support Officers and Special Constables.
