New PCC surgeries: have a one-to-one meeting with Nick Alston

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex is delighted to announce that he will be holding his first surgery for members of the public on Thursday 13th November 2014, beginning at 4pm.

It will be held in the Hutton Community Centre, Brentwood, and will precede the PCC public meeting in the same venue starting at 6pm, to which all members of the local community are welcome.

As part of the launch of Nick Alston’s engagement programme and charter  the PCC will be holding informal surgeries offering an opportunity for members of the local community to speak with him directly.  This will also provide a means for those who may be less comfortable speaking in a public forum to raise the issues that matter to them. This will initially be a pilot programme, and it is intended to provide people with an alternative opportunity to engage with their PCC. If it is viewed as helpful by the community, the PCC will hold surgeries prior to his public meetings in each district.

NICK ALSTON MEETING CASTLE POINT NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Nick Alston said: “It’s really important that my engagement programme provides as much flexibility as possible for our communities, including varying formats in which people can talk directly to me about issues concerning them. For some people the idea of putting their hand up at a public meeting may be really off-putting, so I hope this will provide a useful opportunity for people to meet with me in a more personal and informal way.”

These surgeries will be arranged by appointment only.  To ensure the session is productive and informed, it would be useful if you could provide a little information about the nature of the issue you wish to discuss with the PCC at the time of booking. Individual appointments will be for 10 minutes each.

This will not replace the existing process for making complaints to the PCC or to Essex Police, and members of the public may be referred to these processes as part of their consultation.
