Maldon Online Public Meeting

Want to know how police and fire services are keeping people safe in Maldon? Residents and businesses of the district can post their questions live to Jane Gardner, Deputy, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex online via a Facebook live session taking place between 7pm and 8pm on Monday May 16th, 2022.

Jane will be joined on the panel by other experts including Ch/Insp Steve Scott-Haynes Essex Police, Spencer Clarke, Maldon Community Safety Manager and Group Manager Simon Dedham, Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

Jane said: “Our online public meetings are a great way to hear directly from local communities about concerns they might have and areas of activity that are in place and working well.”

“The meetings are also a great opportunity for us to brief residents on how we are working together with a range of partners to achieve the priorities in both our Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan.  We will be updating on how we are delivering the funding for more police officers, helping those suffering from domestic abuse, protecting vulnerable people and tackling gangs and serious violence. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service are carrying out excellent prevention work across the area which is really useful for residents to find out more about.”

Attendees can learn more about recent initiatives that are helping to keep people safe in the district including the Public Space Protection Order implemented in the Promenade Park in Maldon following reports of anti-social behaviour. Meanwhile in Burnham, a premises was identified as a centre for anti-social behaviour by police and partners, and they were able to identify several young girls who were at risk of exploitation and move them from the area, as well as passing information to colleagues from HMRC and Trading Standards. The proactive work safeguarded several children and ensured the businesses involved are properly managed.

Residents can watch live via Facebook on the night and post questions in the comments. Or they can submit questions in advance by emailing them to [email protected]
