Jane Gardner, Deputy Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, was pleased to welcome Clive Stewart, Chairman of Essex County Neighbourhood Watch Association (ECNWA) to the PFCC office last week.
The PFCC Essex has long supported the ECNWA, a registered charity, with funding and Mr Stewart took the time to outline all the excellent community safety action which the association completes in Essex every year.
Among the items discussed was the exciting news the ECNWA is celebrating 30 years of operations in 2025, three decades of volunteers across Essex helping to keep their local communities safe and secure.
Jane Gardner, Deputy PFCC, said: “The ECNWA is a fantastic example of how people can work together to build safe and secure communities in Essex.
“I’m always amazed by the time and dedication given to the ECNWA by volunteers and I cannot thank enough everyone involved in the association for the valuable work they do, helping us to reduce crime and, just as vital, reducing the fear of crime in Essex.
“PFCC Roger Hirst and myself are pleased to continue our support of the Essex County Neighbourhood Watch Association.”
Clive Stewart, Chairman of the Essex County Neighbourhood Watch Association, said: “The support of the PFCC is so helpful to continuing our work in Essex, work we have been carrying out for 30 years.
“We are a registered charity, we are all volunteers and our purpose is giving out advice which we get from reliable sources, by talking to people, by social media, posters, email and leaflets.
“We seek to reach out to everyone even if they do not own a laptop or tablet or do not have access to the internet, we do all we can to welcome all who are keen to be part of Neighbourhood Watch wherever they live. We aim to be of support on Neighbourhood Watch matters to all who may feel vulnerable whatever their age and those who are hard of hearing and visually impaired.
“We also try to be alert to neighbours who are in need of help and use our contacts who may be able to help. Supporting the ECNWA is a positive step in reducing crime and fear of crime in Essex and the ongoing support of the PFCC is a welcome step toward achieving our aims.”
