‘Delivering through partnerships’ – work of PFCC to be highlighted at annual conference

‘Delivering through partnerships’ is the theme of this year’s conference being held by Roger Hirst, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.

The event is being held at Colchester Stadium, United Way, Colchester, on Friday, June 7, supported by Essex Police, Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, the East of England Ambulance Service and the Essex Chambers of Commerce.

Following on from the successful ‘Partnerships in Action’ and the ‘Power of Partnerships’ conferences in 2017 and 2018, this year will showcase how the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner is working with partners across the county to help make communities safer, with a focus on gangs and vulnerability, community safety and diversionary programmes.

The day will feature:

  • a keynote speech from Vic Goddard, Co-Principal of Passmores Academy in Harlow, who featured in the Channel 4 series Educating Essex
  • lightning talks from representatives talking about initiatives happening across the county in two-minute soundbites
  • a Question Time style panel discussion with PFCC Roger Hirst, the Chief Constable of Essex Police BJ Harrington, Essex County Fire & Rescue Services’ Deputy Chief Fire Officer Rick Hylton, Dan Doherty, Director of Clinical Transformation from West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group as well as representatives from East of England Ambulance Service and the voluntary sector
  • opportunities to experience one of the interventions happening in Essex to divert people away from a life of crime.

Roger Hirst said: “For me, safe and secure communities are the bedrock on which we build wellbeing and prosperity for all. It will be great to hear from all of our partners on how we are working together to make Essex a safer place for all who live, work or visit our amazing county.”

Mr Hirst will also be announcing the winner of this year’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner’s Community Safety Award at the conference. People can find out more details about the award and vote for the People’s Choice winner once the voting goes live on Monday on the PFCC website https://www.essex.pfcc.police.uk/

More than 200 people representing a range of organisations from across Essex will be at the conference.
