The meeting will take place on Wednesday September 17. There will be briefings and plenty of time for questions about crime trends, what the new local policing plans will mean for the district, and police action around unlawful traveller encampments in Harlow.

HARLOW PUBLIC BRIEFING DOCUMENT 170914

Nick Alston, Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “I encourage everyone who lives in Harlow to come along to the meeting and raise the issues that matter to them around crime and policing. We’ll also be discussing what the new local policing plans recently announced by the Chief Constable will mean for Harlow.

As well as the PCC, Assistant Chief Constable Julia Wortley, the Essex Police district commander Acting Chief Inspector Greg Wood, representatives from the Community Safety Partnership and Steve Andrews manager of the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit will also be in attendance.

They will help the PCC explore the facts around crime trends and give briefings on what actions are being taken by local officers. They will also discuss action taken around several unlawful encampments in the district. The PCC will ask questions of both police and the council and talk about work being done in the area to drive down crime and improve safety. The public will also be given the opportunity to ask questions.

Nick Alston added: “If you care about keeping Harlow safe, please come along to the meeting and be part of the debate.”
